General
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll. This role involves data entry, verification of timekeeping records, assisting with payroll reporting, and responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and maintains a high level of confidentiality. This position has an annual salary starting at $50,000 but has the potential for more, based on experience, etc.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees on a bi-weekly or semi-monthly basis.
- Review and verify timesheets, attendance records, and hours worked.
- Enter and update employee data in payroll systems, including new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
- Calculate and process adjustments such as bonuses, overtime, and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Assist with year-end processes including W-2 preparation and distribution.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, direct deposit, and tax forms.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure secure storage of sensitive information.
- Support audits and generate payroll-related reports as requested.
- Coordinate with HR and Accounting teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in payroll processing or administrative finance work.
- Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms).
- Knowledge of wage and hour laws and payroll tax regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
