As part of a high-performing and collaborative team that supports culture, engagement, and brand reputation, both internally and externally, across WestJet, we are looking for an Events Specialist. Reporting to the Manager - Events & Activations, you will be responsible for the design and overseeing of all external events in a cohesive and cost-effective way that has a measurable impact on WestJets reputation and brand engagement, while achieving the objectives of senior leaders within WestJet.

Key deliverables / responsibilities include:
- Plan and execute a wide range of external events including but not limited to network announcements, inaugural route launches, activations with community investment partners, support for sponsorships activations, media/PR and Government relation events.
- Build, develop and maintain strong internal and external partnerships through proactive and consistent communication, supporting cost efficiencies and effective vendor relationships.
- Prepare and present concepts, briefs, and other supporting material to align critical stakeholders on direction and desired outcomes, with a comprehensive view of multi-audience engagement.
- Problem solving and scenario plan for situations with confidence, maintaining a calm and in-control demeanor.
- In collaboration with leadership, set key performance indicators on how we measure success for our external events through social media and PR metrics.
Experience and qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in corporate event planning
- Post-secondary education in project management, event management, or equivalent experience
- Strong relationship-building skills while managing high expectations and coordinating with various stakeholders
- Requires strong problem-solving skills and advanced interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to employ creative and clever marketing-style efforts to appeal to audiences
- Being able to multi-task in a very fast changing environment is required
- Must have a valid passport and flexibility to travel, largely within Canada
