Job Description:
Avionics repair technicians are independent workers requiring minimal oversight to perform complex fault isolation and repair to component level on technically sophisticated electronic military hardware. Experience in laboratory and test operations; knowledge of test procedures and equipment and structural, electrical, electronic, software, and mechanical concepts; good communication and computer skills; and ability to work effectively as a team member. They are required to define and set short-term priorities to meet ever-changing customer requirements. The high throughput and accuracy of repair is achieved by the unique test and repair methods employed using skills of the technician rather than depending on automated test systems. Listed below are some job responsibilities required by the three different levels of technicians..
Position Responsibilities:
• Plans, conducts, and documents tests on avionics systems and subsystems.
• Investigates, analyzes, and resolves test problems and anomalies.
• Contributes to the development of original test plans and provides input on improving test procedures and processes
• Plans preventive maintenance and maintains the availability and readiness of test systems.
• Train and guide entry-level personnel in routine test processes and equipment operation.
• Identifies and recommends new test equipment, processes and methods.
• Performs work requiring extensive technical experience, judgement and interpretation of general requirements in order to accomplish a specific test objective
• Develops new test methods and regularly contributes highly innovative improvements to existing test methods, procedures processes and equipment.
• Develops intermediate level personnel through on-the-job training in more complicated test matters and guides them through solution of complex problems
Required skills
• Ability to perform complex fault isolation on avionics gear
• Aerospace quality soldering
• Ability to use multimeter, o-scope, other fault isolation equipment
• Electronics and avionics theory
• Microsoft office
Preferred
• Depot level F-18 avionics repair knowledge
Education / Experience:
High school diploma or GED and typically 1 or more years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
