Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal / Senior Principal Engineer Systems Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

**This role may be filled at either the Principal Engineer Systems Architect or Senior Principal Engineer Systems Architect, based on qualifications listed below**

The individual will work with the Architect and Software Lead to design supporting Next-Generation Mission Systems. The individual must have a firm understanding of traditional systems engineering concepts and methodologies and must be able to apply and adjust these concepts and methodologies to an accelerated process in the early stages of the engineering design.  The candidate must be familiar with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), be able to work within an agile environment, and be an “out of the box” thinker.  

We are looking for innovative thinkers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable with multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks, giving verbal presentations, and self-educating without direct supervision.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in architecture definition and complex system problem solving in support of Research and Advanced Design programs 
  • Design, develop, and document systems that contain logical solutions using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo 
  • Collaborate with the Chief Architect and Lead Systems Engineer to build out Systems Engineering artifacts in support of standards development for incorporation into ABMS and JADC2 
  • Generate and present material to support internal and external customer briefings

Basic Qualifications (Principal Engineer Systems Architect) : 

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 1 year of related professional/military experience.
  • Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance (DoD must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
  • Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Special Access Program (SAP) clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company. 
  • Must have experience developing model-based systems engineering products and/or Mission Engineering.

Basic Qualifications (Senior Principal Engineer Systems Architect):

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 8 years of related professional/military experience , OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 years of related professional/military experience , OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience.
  • Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance (DoD must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
  • Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Special Access Program (SAP) clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company. 
  • Must have experience developing model-based systems engineering products and/or Mission Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret clearance 
  • Active SAP 
  • Experience with Atlassian Tool Suite and Cameo Enterprise Architecture modeling for system design 
  • Experience in integrating complex system across multiple domains 
  • Knowledge and experience with the definition of OMS – Open Mission System Architecture Specification and UCI – Universal Command and Control Interface 
  • Experience demonstrating concepts to management and customers 

Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Salary Range 2: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
