As a Senior Calibration Technologist, you will support and lead calibration activities within our engine test cell environment in San Antonio. This includes Turbo Fan/Jet/Prop engines. This is a critical role for a subject matter expert who will ensure precision, reliability, and compliance of all test cell instrumentation.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in calibration processes, particularly related to data acquisition systems and test cell instrumentation, and will work closely with our performance engineering team to support our aerospace engine testing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary calibration expert for engine test cells and support of PME withing the test cell complex.
- Perform calibration and spot checks on all test cell sensors and data acquisition systems to ensure proper function and accuracy.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting on sensors and instrumentation within the test cells.
- Coordinate and manage all Test Cell general tooling calibrations at the San Antonio facility.
- Maintain and manage Precision Measurement Equipment (PME): cleaning, registering, repairing, calibrating, and inspecting to ensure all tools are compliant and in working condition.
- Work closely with our Calibration Lab to monitor and maintain calibration and inspection records for all registered tooling, ensuring traceability and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Identify, document, and revise calibration procedures and standards as needed.
- Quarantine of PME and working with our central calibration lab to resolve issues with PME
- Perform monthly correlation burns on the Spectroil JOAP machine.
- Support risk analysis and flight/product safety initiatives, identifying and reporting calibration-related safety concerns.
- Collaborate closely with the internal calibration team to support continuous improvement and consistency in procedures.
- Contribute to special projects and continuous improvement efforts within the calibration process.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of related experience in calibration, instrumentation, or test cell operations.
- Completion of a Diploma/Certificate training program from a recognized college or technical institution. A College Diploma in Engineering Technology or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and control instrumentation.
- Proficiency in using and managing PCs and calibration software systems.
- Exceptional mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and precision in calibration practices.
- Familiarity with relevant company instructions, quality standards, and calibration documentation practices.
- Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel within the U.S. and internationally as required. Any travel will be minimal.
