Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for FAI Technician to join our team based at our Staverton site. The role is onsite, full-time and will suit someone with recent first article inspection experience.

The Role:
In this role, you’ll be responsible for preparing and performing First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in alignment with our manufacturing validation plans. You will:
Review manufacturing schedules to plan and prioritise FAI activities.
Analyse manufacturing data packs to understand the required processes for inspection.
Witness and verify operations and processes on the shop floor.
Use company FAI software to complete and compile detailed First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
Identify and document non-conformances, and escalate issues to relevant teams.
Review and validate supplier FAIRs, liaising directly with suppliers to resolve issues.
Compile FAI metrics to support manufacturing leadership and resource planning.
Support system development, integration, and training activities related to FAI.
About You:
We’re looking for someone with a strong background in quality inspection and manufacturing who thrives in a structured, process-driven environment. To be successful, you’ll need:
Proven experience conducting FAI in accordance with AS9102 and customer requirements.
A formal technical apprenticeship or equivalent in a mechanical or electronic discipline.
The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
Experience using measurement tools such as gauges, verniers, and CMM.
Strong communication skills and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
Experience with Ideagen Q-Pulse or Visual FAIR would be a strong advantage.
A good working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems.
