Collaborative relationships with operational groups and business partners are key to the success of this job. Working closely with their peers in the Inflight, Digital Product, Finance and Catering Operations teams, the Product Owner, Meal Pre-Order ensures strategic alignment, program stability, data integrity, and network readiness while managing day-to-day operational requirements.Responsibilities:
Meal Pre-Order Program OwnershipPopulate the monthly Meal Pre-Order files with accurate catering information across all stations, cabins, and routes, ensuring data integrity across all stations and menus.Manage the upload, verification and troubleshooting process for Meal Pre-Order and lead governance of file accuracy within Air Canada digital applications, ensuring timely availability for customers.Lead day-to-day program operations, ensuring a seamless end-to-end experience for customers, crew, internal and external stakeholders.Establish structured governance standards and quality checks across all program elements.
IT and Backend SupportAct as primary liaison with IT, Digital, ECX and external IT partners for issue triage, prioritization, resolution, and validation.Lead and support testing cycles for new features, releases, bug fixes and system enhancements.Maintain a structured, prioritized backlog of enhancements, defects and tech improvements, ensuring alignment with development teams and business priorities.
Program Development, Growth and StrategyDefine, refine and execute the long-term vision for Meal Pre-Order, including expansion into new cabins, routes and partner catering stations and new product types.Identify and assess opportunities to evolve functionality, operational scalability and the end-to-end customer journey.Socialize ideas and implement in collaboration with Digital and IT teams.Lead cross-functional planning with Catering, In-Flight Service, Airports, and Digital teams to ensure readiness, alignment and successful deployment of enhancements.
Benchspaning and Competitive InsightsConduct ongoing competitive benchspaning to understand global airline best practices in Meal Pre Order technology inclusive of pre-order windows, menu UX/UI, personalization models and engagement strategies.Translate insights into actionable product recommendations that elevate Air Canada’s offering and support premium positioning.Monitor industry trends in digital retail, customer choice architecture, and airline personalization tools.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and CommunicationLiaise with In-Flight Service, Airports, Catering Operations and all external catering partners to support operational execution and communication plans for Meal Pre-Order updates and launches.Lead training and onboarding for catering partners and ensure compliance with Meal Pre-Order processes across stations.Provide clear, proactive communication to internal stakeholders on program performance, risks, operational issues, customer insights, and roadmap milestones.
Analytics, Reporting and Continuous ImprovementPartner with Data Product, ECX and Customer Insights teams to monitor KPIs, customer selection behaviour, operational load impact, fulfillment performance, and system stability.Analyze trends to drive product optimizations, operational improvements, and future roadmap decisions.Support the creation, refinement, and automation of dashboards/reports to support data-driven decision making.
Printed Menu – Supporting ResponsibilitiesSupport the upload process for printed menu files in Air Canada applications, including audits, validation and discrepancy resolution.Support the printer, caterers and the Air Canada Catering Product team with ongoing printed menu requirements such as: menu proofing, logistics coordination and mid-month reconciliation or adjustment activities.
QualificationsMinimum 3 years’ experience in Business Administration, commercial airlines, technology, catering or the equivalent.Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Solid understanding of commercial airline business an asset.Highly organized with strong time-management skills and an aptitude to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.Strong attention to detail, especially in data entry and validation, proofing, and quality checks.Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholdersCreative mindset and be able to generate innovative ideas to improve the processes and customer experience.Ability to manage monthly operational cycles, tight deadlines, and multiple moving pieces.Proven ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision.Proactive, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities.Demonstrated problem-solving skills.Strong sense of ownership and accountability for deliverables.Must be extremely proficient in Microsoft Office applications.Ability to work flexible hours, as required.Bilingual preferred - English and French.Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
